SMTP configuration
Connect an authenticated SMTP account with TLS/STARTTLS or SSL/SMTPS. Unauthenticated SMTP is available when allowed by your server.
A focused suite of WordPress email tools: provider setup, meaningful diagnostics, branded tests and privacy-conscious logs.
Every feature below is included in the installable v1.2.3 package.
Connect an authenticated SMTP account with TLS/STARTTLS or SSL/SMTPS. Unauthenticated SMTP is available when allowed by your server.
Choose Google, Microsoft 365 or Others. Provider selection fills its hostname; Others unlocks fully custom hostname entry.
Send a premium branded HTML test message with a plain-text alternative. Check receipt with your destination mailbox.
Review accepted or failed send attempts without a full admin-page reload. Pagination and browser navigation are supported.
SMTP password data is stored encrypted using AES-256-GCM when PHP OpenSSL is available and keyed from your WordPress salts.
Check SMTP readiness, OpenSSL, saved credentials, log storage and scheduled cleanup status from one read-only diagnostics screen.
Choose 7, 14, 30 or 90 days of log retention. WordPress cron handles scheduled cleanup when it runs.
Configure From Email and From Name, optional sender override and return-path behavior from the admin interface.
See logged attempts, accepted attempts, failures and an acceptance rate for transport outcomes—not inbox placement.
Works through PHPMailer configured by wp_mail(). Avoid running multiple plugins that override the same mail transport.
SMTP Connect does not operate a mail server, provide an email inbox or override your provider's restrictions. It uses your selected SMTP service.
